Installing 32, 36, & 40 SKF Low Friction Seals

TSB: The following installation procedure shows how to install the new SKF Low Friction lower leg seals using the new FOX seal driver tools.

SKF Low Friction Seals

In principle, the same installation procedure applies for all tool and seal sizes.

Installing the Seals

  1. Stage the driver tool, SKF Low Friction seals and foam rings. Pour some fresh FOX Green 10 wt oil into a beaker.

  2. Soak the foam rings in FOX Green 10 wt oil, and place them in the lower legs as shown.

  3. Apply a thin layer of Fox Green 10 wt oil to the inside and outside walls of an SKF Low Friction seal.

  4. Place the lubricated seal partially into a lower leg.

  5. Squaring up the seal with the lower leg, place the driver tool directly over the seal.

  6. Firmly press the seal down into the lower leg with the driver tool, holding the tool firmly in place for at least five (5) seconds to ensure a proper seating of the seal.

  7. Make sure the seal is evenly and completely seated into the lower leg. Repeat this procedure for the other low friction seal starting from Step #3 to the end, and you're done.
